Guest guest
Hello; some of you may remember me asking for advice when I developed a rare auto immune disease in Sept. called polymyositis/dermamyositis which effected my skin and my muscles. I have been guided to a number of incredible healers and I am feeling great now and my labs are perfect. However, I am trying to wean myself from prednisone (under the care of three excellent physicians and the advise of a number of alternative healers.) At the WLS support group the other night, a number of those who had had bowel obstructions were amazed that I had been put on Prednisone, considering I had a r-n-y 18 months ago. They said that it has been known to cause ulcers very quickly. No one has mentioned that side effect before. I am going to see the doctor on Monday and will ask, but I am curious if any of you had similar experiences or had information that I should share with the medical staff. they determined that the auto-immune had nothing to do with the surgery, just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are weaning me from 40mg and I am now down to 25mg daily and taking 150 mg of azathioprine daily. The only side effect of prednisone has been intense hunger, even though I have not gained any weight. It has really got my appetite running full steam. I have not developed the round face and weight gain which was a real fear after finally losing 120 pounds and maintaining a " normal' body. Thanks for your input.
