Guest guest
My OS took my splint out each week and cleaned for me....I asked him how I could clean and he said it was pretty hard, so I didn't bother doing it myself. > > I was in my local mega mart the other day trying to find more wax and > found a neat-o little toy. Guest guest
My splint was not removable. Once I could handle it (10 days post op or so) I used my electric toothbrush to clean the best I could after every meal. I also used my waterpik religiously. My teeth were quite scummy when my splint was taken out at 6 weeks. I used baking soda toothpaste for a few weeks to clean the ick off my teeth. They are and feel totally normal now. Just clean the best you can and do the best you can do, your teeth will be fine. Guest guest
I wasn't allowed to remove my splint at all for the first 3 weeks and I envy any one who has a doctor so nice as to remove it and clean it for them. SO jealous! I was told that I should avoid trying to poke any stuff in between the splint and my palate (I had a 3 piece le forte and my palate was expanded) but that I should just stick to using a baby toothbrush and toothpaste and clean as best as I could around the splint. I found doing mouth rinses with salty water or bicarbonated water was a good way of getting rid of the white ick. And yes, it is normal that the white ick is there. Try going without brushing your teeth for 3 weeks and you'll see that white ick appears on your teeth too. Personally I found getting food stuck in my splint a lot more frustrating than the white ick, although I do remember feeling pretty frustrated and yucky once the white ick turned into a fuzzy sweater feeling in my mouth. Ugh. Hold on tight. Your new gadget sounds cool! Sara Surgery 6/6/2005 > > > > > > I was in my local mega mart the other day trying to find more wax > > and > > > found a neat-o little toy.
