My son has been taking s.boulardi now for well over a month. He is up to 4 per

day. I noticed early on that his skin was starting to clear up from the acne he

has been having badly since taking Prednisone last fall. However, it seems like

the acne is trying to reassert itself and I am wondering why.

His history thus far:

Round of drug therapy a year ago...no real beneft

Following SCD for almost 4 months

S. Boularidi - about 6 weeks,4x daily

SCD yogurt - about 1/2 t. daily for a little over a week

SCD Multivitamin

SCD B complex

LDN for almost 2 weeks

Went through the 3 month flare already

Spiked a high fever over a week ago which lasted only a day but is tired; He

took all of last week off of work and is returning tomorrow.

For a 19 year, he is incredibly stiff. Trips to the chiropractor loosen him up

but only temporarily.

I am wondering if he has a major yeast issue even though he is on the

s.boulardi, and wondering about asking our family dr. to order the OAT for

him...kind of pricey but sounds like it would provide some direction?

He is only slowly taking on the SCD yogurt because earlier in the process it was

too strong for him. He seems to be handling it better now so he has to find out

how to best increase the amount.

Would bathing daily in epsom salt help better than just the occasional bath?

What about just soaking feet?

Make sure he keeps on going slowly.

Yep.

bath would be better, but that is better than nothing.

The stiffness is concerning. Did it get worse after starting the LDN? If so,

have you ever tested him

for things like Lyme disease?

Or that could also be because he should lower his dose of LDN. If you ask on

the main LDN list (not the

adjunct, specialized one, you will get some responses to that. Though sometimes

people are also

suffering from other auto immune diseases, like RA or other things.

I think stiffness is also a symptom of UC, so he may have to work harder to get

rid of it - the LDN

should help, but doing some exercise where muscle stretching is involved is also

helpful - though

I know he is doing physical labor at the moment for his job - working at a farm,

right? - so he may

not have enough energy for both.

Still, just rolling around on the floor to loosen up his back and spine and neck

and doing some

bends and twists - a light yoga routine - would prove very helpful for this.

As for the acne, sometimes starting LDN brings yeast to the fore - so even with

the s. boulardii,

the yeast infection - in the form of facial outbreak - may be gaining strength.

But, this is all the

more reason to take the OAT, because it will determine if he has yeast or not.

If the LDN

is not working effectively or barely, it's probably because of yeast. Though

these things can

also be cyclical - and if the acne started up at the same time as he started the

yogurt, it could

be a die off reaction as well. Flushing toxins causing outbreaks, etc.
