Guest guest
Beth, I have found, through therapy In my case, a lot of my issues with food, intimacy (not sexual), and abandonment came from a traumatic event in my childhood. The years of overeating and other destructive behaviors insulated me from facing these terribly hard issues. Facing them at 39 without my safety valve of overeating, drugs, and alchohol is hid in the closet scary and I'm learning new things like actually feeling. In my case (I can only speak for myself) I am genetically pre programmed to be heavy but food was also a coping tool for issues too painful for a 8 year old without healthy adults around to understand.
