Danger of overusing Affrin (or other nasal spray)

I'm suffering from awful congestion in the first few days post-op, and

Affrin seems to help a little bit, but not that much.

Regardless, i find that whatever effect it has wears off after 3 to 4

hours, but the packaging warns not to take more than once every 12

hours. I know that medical packaging is frequently very conservative

on dosage guidelines, so just wondering if anyone else heard anything

from their doctors to the effect that more frequent Affrin use (it's

pretty much the only thing helping one iota right now) was OK.
