Guest guest
Welcome to the grad list, Kaye. Welcome to ALL the new grads. Grazing will and can hurt your progress and throw you into weight gain mode. I eat 5 meals a day and try to keep my blood sugar on a steady line so I try to maintain a high protein/low carb diet. I do eat some carbs because carbs feed the brain and you need them for energy but I work off a low glycemic chart that allows me to eat carbs that are complex and good for me. I still only eat about 3 fistfuls a day which may consist of veggies or oatmeal, etc. Rule of thumb I follow is the less sweet the taste the lower the glycemic level and the better for you. Best advice I can give you from my heart is to avoid simple sugars and everything " white " . Just so you know why: a simple sugar or carb (which quickly metabolizes into glucose/sugar) will enter the blood stream and create an insulin spike. Insulin has one job...It is the General! It marshalls all unused sugar into the fat cells which can absorb up to 1000 times their size. (Very little is marshalled into the muscle cells because they have little ability to hold excess sugar/glucose.) Sugar is the enemy. Put an ugly face on it...see it as the greatest catalyst towards bounce-back weight. Stop grazing...thats how the cows get fat God bless you and your journey towards learning what helps you to lose and MAINTAIN. Carol G 8/24/01 down 155 lbs at goal...err...3 lbs over it. > Hi my name is Kaye Brown. I had surgery in San Diego Oct 8, 2002. Loving my new life and body. Current concern is grazing. I've lost 112 lbs, but feel I could have done better.....but very happy with where I am. Still working on the mental and emotional changes. I can sense the difference in me and am liking the changes. I hope to be helped and give help through this web site. Kaye > >
