Guest guest
From everything I've read about high levels of cortisol, the weight gain tends to collect around the middle, and that sounds like what may be happening to you. When I was younger and MO, as many of " us " know, my obesity affected my hormone levels (polycystic ovary disease) and even after losing a substantial amount of weight, 150# on a low calorie diet, when I had my hormones checked with an endocrinologist my cortisol was still extremely elevated. And I still had a big gut. I am talking 20 years ago, so it was even more " dark ages " when it comes to knowledge about this stuff. ly, the doctor didn't really address it I guess cause I was there for " female stuff " like estrogen and progesterone and testesterone etc., and I just dropped the issue and that was that. Today, I think there is more awareness & perhaps a bit more knowledge about the effect of cortisol on obesity and heart disease and stress etc. If you haven't consulted a good endocrinologist, maybe you should consider this. Perhaps, by now, there is a treatment for elevated cortisol??? Or at least some advice to point you in a direction that could be helpful?
