Guest guest
HI Jill, Was reading your posts a bit and thought oh my we need to talk. I have had 2 surgies...Aug 04 upper (8-9mm up and back) and genio-banded closed 3.5 weeks... (I also had a deviated septum and MANY large sinus polyups that he corrected/removed) went great physically and visually..........and then pushed out a screw and big pain forced me to get them and the plates out in May 05. When I did, I healed and felt like Ahhh they're out. They always felt foreign, especially the ones high up on my nose right where my glasses would sit. AND THEN... I went camping upstate NY, cold wet weekend...and it started. BIG pain again...but thing was it felt psuedo-sinus like...and I thought change of season, allergies/asthma...and the cold was why...but nope...it still goes on with or w/o rain...etc... so what to do? Had a catscan (whole time talking w/my OS...who I both like and trust)...3D. It is cool to look at but report said NOTHING bad. Still pain. So...we're not sure. Thinks he sees a possible Non-union on the upper left side. TROUBLE. We spoke and decided I would go to an ENT...went last nt, to check on my sinuses...see, I feel like a bad sinus infection w/o bad mucus. Swellinng on the apple of my left cheek, and numbness there and around, plus my upper feels weird wehn I scrunch my face like eeeew what's the smell-face...I feel it up to my eye...and then there's the pain and the headaches...sensitivity to light (like now I am squinting bec it's darkish outside and the florescents are sooo much)... seems that my sinuses are A-ok. No infection or inflamation. so good, but is it? So now, back to still being in pain, swollen and with out answers. I AM SUPER concerned about going back in...having one cut from upper left to right-slicing nerves AGAIN...3 times in about a yr and a few mths?! concerned about scar tissue, and we're talking that if it's a non-union replacing the plates we remved! But with disolving plates (in abotu 2mths they go Poof!)...which long haul sounds nice, but who knows.... The minor issues is work -not going to be good to take off again, but more so, I am a recruiter and speak for A LOT of my position...and honestly with the swelling and new or returned numbess, I am not always speaking well. PLUS------I have to get permanent retainers on upper AND lower prior to any surgery...to be sure I don't loose all my work...but my lowers have moved already, trying to get diagiional from front to back again...and my bite doesn't close as it should...or did...I shifted some. So the retainers start mid november...looks like Happy Holidays! geez.......... I have so many questions and am not a new-be...but I don't know that anyone can answer them...like the nerves, the strain on my body to be under 4 times in 2 yrs (another unrelated surgery), the scar tissue thing-and is something pushing on something that I have this pain and nubness, swelling? What about these disolving things? I want to do this right...Said that from the start-do whatever it takes as long as it's once -they don;'t gp back to how they were and (more-as I had broken my jaw in college and was wired then too...so come on, give a girl a break!)...now we're looking at another? Thoughts? info about these issues...? and do I even do this...I HATE EXPLORITY SURGERY! (an orthopedist wanted to open my knees in college to look around...I ONLY NEEDED P/Therapy...it was muscular...scared me then and scares me still...I know my OS is not at all like that dr, but why can't we know more before we drug me under, cut and try to heal AGAIN? thanks y'all! I LOVE YOU GUYS...when no one else gets it...YOU DO. THis is our lives 24/7...and when it's pain 23/7 it's not something you wnt to keep talking about but want to talk abotu to stop it. Jill tell me how you're onto 3 or 4 too? second OS...???! jo
