Guest guest
I know that my PS physician has declined to do some surgeries based on the patient's iron levels. When your iron is down, you don't heal well at all. Guest guest
Okay, I can understand the inability to absorb oral iron but I don't understand why the body wouldn't hang on to the infusions or injected iron. Can you explain (in plain English) why this would happen? What can be done to correct this problem, if oral stuff doesn't " stick " and infusions don't " stick " what would? Have you seen a hematologist? Alice The Loon RNY 12/28/00 My iron-deficient anemia was caused by my body's inability to absorb iron. Despite doubling then quadrupling my oral iron, then a series of IM iron shots, my hemoglobin and ferritin levels continued to drop. I have heavy menstrual cycles, also two fibroid tumors that are hiding behind my uterus, so last week I had an endometrial ablation in an attempt to stop the monthly blood loss.
