Guest guest
Wow I get a ct at least once every 3 month yes I have concers but I need them done I just keep my faith you and it really 400x a xray Sent from my iPod  Hi All!   I am scheduled to have a CT scan in January ( it will be my fifth in 3 years) and I am worried about the recent news about CT Scans and cancer. I had not realized until I read the news report that a CT scan has the same amount of radiation as 100 x rays. I am wondering how often everyone else has scans and if anyone else is worried about the cancer connection.    R. Guest guest
I've had 18 CT's (sometimes two at a time such as neck and chest or abdomen and pelvis so thats why the count so high) total since June 2007 and I am worried about the risks. Ironically the cause for many of mine was monitoring my lymph nodes for possible lymphoma. As it turned out they have not grown since the first one. I am now on an annual basis but I'm also planning on going to Duke and know they will want their own. The problem too is getting one to cover all purposes so to scan for inspiration and expiration and to look at the lymph nodes increases the total scan. In my case the benefit of monitoring has been felt greater than the risk of the scans. If I were on a normal PF routine, I would only want them annually. However, I would feel benefit in annual scans to make sure nothing new or different has developed. But thats just me. I could equally argue against having any while remaining stable and only having another when noticing a change. > > Hi All! > I am scheduled to have a CT scan in January ( it will be my fifth in 3 years) and I am worried about the recent news about CT Scans and cancer. Guest guest
, I get a CTScan every 6 months. I'm not worried about getting cancer - figure I'll be dead from IPF long before I will get cancer.
