Guest guest
Yeah, we were 10 mm, I think (all our measurements are unreliable crap, but you can check our pics) and it produced eye tracking difficulty. The pediatrician (former) blew it off as " pseudostrabismus, " or the mere appearance of a crossed eye, but the eye was actually crooked. The pediatrician cares only if the child can *compensate* for the deformity, by having her follow a penlight with her eyes. The pediatric eye surgeon, similarly, rubs his hands waiting to perform corrective surgery on the musculature at age 6, and considers plagiocephaly to be beyond his purview. The only person who gives a crap is the optometrist, in our experience, and you won't see them until long after the treatment window. Eye problems and developmental delays are the most well studied sequelae (that's the word you want to google). So, if this is how the patent, immediate sequelae are handled, you can just imagine how little professional concern our more speculative fears arouse -- like TMJ, poor sinus and ear drainage, migraines -- things that might not crop up until adolescence or middle age! Forget about common sense, preventative care. If you want a helmet, you generally have to read independently, disregard professional opinion, and flat out ask for the prescription as a paid service, because YOU want it. You're the primary caregiver, not them. -- Thad Launderville town, VT Clara age 2, STARband '10 On Oct 4, 2010, at 10:15 AM, christygumbach wrote: > My computer won't let me put in a subject line...sorry. > > My daughter has a head difference of 10mm.
