Guest guest
Hello, I am 4 weeks post op and have been on a liquid diet the whole time. All I eat is Malt-O-Meal and shakes. I went to the OS and he took all the rubber bands off except two. He said I could stretch my jaw and I could take the rubber bands off twice a day for 15 minutes to practice opening. I have seen a few people that had lower jaw advancement that have pain on one side of their jaw and so do I. Well, to make a long story short he said no chewing this week. I will take your bands off next week. I want to spoon in mashed potatoes and soft foods that I don't have to chew. I feel guilty and not sure if I should. He said no chewing! I don't consider this chewing and I am starving all the time. I am really weird about food and won't blend anything. Do you think I should eat soft food in that period when I am allowed to take the bands off or do you think something could be wrong with the left side of my jaw and I shouldn't chance it? Guest guest
Well I'm no doctor but if you can just swallow things like mashed potatoes and pudding without chewing, then I'd say why not have them..
Guest guest
My DD has only 2 rubber bands that she is permitted to remove them to eat. She eats things like Mac-n-cheese, Spag O's, Mac-n-beef, all saucy and she swallows one noodle whole at a time without chewing. She ate some crustless cheesecake yesterday. She is not having any problems with eating this way. Maybe you could too. She uses a baby spoon and turns it upside down on her tongue. Anita Only Have two rubber bands- Help with Eating! Guest guest
Thanks Anita, how many weeks post op is she? I agree with eating those things. I literally starved for four weeks I think I deserve them. I don't know why I think it's gross to blend food it's just a weird problem I have. I just drank juice and just started making shakes in the last week. To top it of my teeth are sensative so I had a heck of a time drinking hold stuff. I am glad it's almost over. Guest guest
Tomorrow will be two weeks. She feels great. She doesn't like blended things either very much. But I made some homemade potato soup that I blended up.After cooking it I took all the pieces and with a strainer and blended them and transferred it back into the pot and added milk and cheese and heated it up again. It was very good. She loved it. Anita Only Have two rubber bands- Help with Eating! > > > Hello, I am 4 weeks post op and have been on a liquid diet the whole > time.
