Guest guest
Jacque, My acupuncturist said something about pickles that seemed very interesting to me... She said it means that your liver is weak and stressed. Same if you're craving vinegar. Something to think about. Is there a REASON you're not a protein shake fan? Because to me, the nothing-tastes-good-hungry-all-the-time is exactly the way I feel when I'm not doing my protein shakes. When I'm doing them, the foods that are good for me, look good and are desirable too. Just a thought. You don't have to tell us if you try protein shakes and discover that you like them. I know for some people it's a near-religious crusade, and there's a few shallow people that will say " I told you so " but for me, it's all about feeling and being healthy. I know you've been making this work for a long time, but it sounds like it's not really working so well for you these days. " I've been trying to eat, and eat healthy, but I feel like I'm starving to death. I'm not. I haven't lost a single pound lately. But nothing tastes good, I'm hungry all the time, and I feel like I'm just going thru the motions, except for my yogurt concoctions, and my pickles. " Your yogurt drink, if you divide it out into two portions, contains: 170 calories 2.5 grams of fat 1.5 grams of saturated fat 0.5 grams of monounsaturated fat 31.5 grams of carbs 4 grams of fiber 23 grams of sugar 7.5 grams of protein By comparison, my current favorite, Champion Whey Stack Cocoa-Mochaccino, contains: 195 calories 3 grams of fat 2 grams of saturated fat 6 grams of carbs 1 gram of fiber 4.5 grams of sugar 34.5 grams of protein Not so great on the sugar and carbs front, but I'm convinced that part of the reason this particular shake really seems filling to me (even when made with water; I never make protein with milk!) is that it's got some fat in it. It also gives it FANTASTIC " mouth feel " . Not watery! Another protein drink that I really like, Nectar Carribean Cooler, contains: 135 calories 0 grams of fat 0 grams of carbs 0 grams of fiber 0 grams of sugar 34.5 grams of protein I would dump in a major way from your yogurt drink (mostly because of the banana and the OJ), and I have to admit, I would not call it healthy FOR ME. I want the protein to be higher than the carbs, ALWAYS, and I want the sugar under 10. Z Open RNY 09/17/01 http://www.ziobro.us RE: I'm hungry Now, you all know that I am not a protein shake fan. You can't be a fan of something you've never tried. But, recently (Christmas Eve) I made a purchase from one of those TV infomercials (HORRORS!). I bought an Ultimate Chopper, and got the blender attachment as well. I LOVE IT. And here is what I have been doing, once a day: 1 cup unsweetened plain low fat yogurt. 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup unsweetened orange juice and 1/2 cup unsweetened frozen fruit (peach slices, cherries, raspberries, etc) NO SUGAR ADDED. It's like a fruit shake, or frozen yogurt, after I stick it in the freezer. I don't know how healthy it is, but my pea brain tells me it is. I don't know how many calories it is. I don't care. It can't be outrageous. I'm not putting any sugar or substitute in, and buying frozen fruit with no sugar added. It makes about 2-3 servings for me. When I think I need something sweet, this does the trick. But I don't want sweet all that much. I have to admit, my eating habits have not been stellar since Fred has been gone (Sept), but I try to stay away from carbs in excess, but you can eat only so much chicken with broccoli in the side before you go, " BLEHHHHHH!!!! " Cooking for one is a pain in the patootie. Fast foods don't do it. I'm not a fast food fan, anyway. Don't do hamburgers or pizza. Don't like canned soup. Don't like much of anything right now. Sharp cheddar and triscuits crackers are losing their appeal. I've never been an egg fan, particularly, but I've been eating them once a day, with diced low fat ham and cheese in them. It's wearing off. Someone tell me how to cook for one. I just don't know how. I've been trying to eat, and eat healthy, but I feel like I'm starving to death. I'm not. I haven't lost a single pound lately. But nothing tastes good, I'm hungry all the time, and I feel like I'm just going thru the motions, except for my yogurt concoctions, and my pickles.
