Guest guest
Just to recap I've had braces on since June 04, had them earlier as a child with the same ortho actually. I initially just wanted to recorrect my front teeth due to shifting. That's when I was told that surgery might be a consideration/obligation. That being said I know have the possibility of having surgery late December or early January. I'm aiming for the January date because my parents live overseas and due to the type of insurance I have (HSA) I'd like to try to max it out in order to benefit from the tax deduction (2,650 is what one can put aside each year so far). The assistants are trying to get some insurance and that factor is equally as important since the estimate I got was around 10k...not including the 5k I almost have paid off in ortho fees. That being said I'm scheduled per the ortho treatment to potentially have a Lefort I osteotomy and a mandibular osteotomy (hopefully something that members here have had). I just recently did my molds (which I imagine is a good thing) but unfortunately due to the success of my orthodontist and his " factory " like setting I wasn't really able to see what has been occuring since the last molds taken were last June. I also met at the time with my surgeon and have not seen him since. What are some IMPORTANT questions I should be asking him tomorrow. I will be meeting him obviously prior to the surgery (2 wks) but because I'm on my own right now I want to be sure I don't forget anything important. I thought I'd drill him politely on why again he thinks I need treatment? What will be the consequences if I don't and what esthetic improvements will I see. I'll try to take some pictures as for better or worse from previous patients I've seen at the orthodentist I don't see to have such an extreme case. Thanks and sorry for the long post.
