Guest guest
Sorry for the delay in responding. I should have had my husband get on the computer and write you all. Our lives have been in fast forward for two weeks now. Several of 's friends had this stomach virus before her, and all were better in 12 to 24 hours. So we had a good feeling. But on Friday morning, she still couldn't hold toast down. So her doctor wanted to admit her. But wanted to do her walkathon on Saturday (and I had to lead it, with 11 Girl Scouts). The Gatorade kept her blood sugars up, but she did have moderate ketones. So plain white cooked rice around 11am was tried, and she held it down. The rest of the day she was very lethargic but kept toast and bananas down. It definitely is easier when they are older and bigger, because I was less concerned about the weight loss, knowing that her weight was large enough that she could gain it back quickly at 60 pounds. But my husband and I agree that the main reason we didn't hospitalize her was knowing with 99% certainty that the flu was only 12 hours.... Guess what. got up Saturday morning and walked TWELVE miles for her walkathon. My legs were SHOT!!!! Jenn
