Guest guest
So I know that it is suppoosed to be a little rough during the first few days, but last night was worse than I had expected especially since his twin brother was in the same room (he was not banded). Each time my son would wake his brother would be woken up too, and both would be unable to console without feeding and rocking back to sleep. They both have always been great sleepers and STTN for 12hours. I am just afraid that they are going to get back into a habit of eating throughout the night. Has anyone had to do sleep training again once they get used to the helmet? I feel like I need to do whatever that will keep him happy in order to keep the band on, so I think I'm doing the right thing... Or does anyone have any words of wisdom for me during this horrible transition phase? Also, I was thinking about maybe separating the boys during nighttime/naps until we get through this period. Anybody had to do this?? - Trevor (8months)DOC-band 1/5/
Guest guest
We had to band one twin too and the break in period was awful. After talking with the ortho the break in period was modified to two weeks instead of one, which made a difference. If things don't get better, you may need to stretch out the break in period too. We did have to separate them about a month after we got Elaine helmeted because her sister was becoming mobile. (Elly got her helmet at ~41/2 mos) Amelia would roll over and play with Elaine's helmet. Try to take off the straps and such. Generally sending Elly into screaming fits. Once we seperated them (separate cribs next to each other) things got better with sleeping through the night again. There are times where they would regress a bit with sleeping that had nothing to do with the helmet. Growth spurts, teething, terrors, etc. Around 8 months was one of those times for us but after a couple weeks they were back on track. As for dealing with the issues that cropped up? I didn't force any kind of sleep training. Things went back to normal as she got used to the helmet.Elaine (twin A), 20mos, grad 6/09 after two helmets On Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 8:33 AM, <shannonatwood@...> wrote: So I know that it is suppoosed to be a little rough during the first few days, but last night was worse than I had expected especially since his twin brother was in the same room (he was not banded).
