Guest guest
Steph, Does Kyla have an IEP? If so, what is her classification? If not, you need to get one done now. She could be classified as other health impaired if she does not qualify for another category. That being said, with the OHI classification, you can have written into her IEP that she is frequently ill and misses school. The school distric then can relax the attendance policy. This is what we have done for Max. Whenever he is absent, it is not a big deal. I think we sometimes have to get a note from the doctor if his absences are extended, but they don't count for the overall total of required days. You should check into this. I will help you if you need it. Jodi P.S. DO NOT send Kyla to school if she is sick with a fever, green, runny nose or anything like that. There is a lot of concern about the spreading of germs, especially with the threat of the avian flu. She should not be in school or near any other kids. It's not good for her or for the others.
