Guest guest
Hi Friends, What do you think about this ? In the last 3 months I've had cellitius in my left leg twice the 2d of which is just starting to clear up now. The Phiso-therapy dept at the hospital would like me to join an exercise group 2 days a week tues. and thurs. 1 hour each for 10 weeks......... at the moment I cannot walk from my bedroom to the kitchen without o2 and it also takes me a month of Sundays I am exaggerating this a bit. I do really need to loose the weight and I am doing that I have lost a little over 2 1/2 stone, but it's slow going. I really do not feel strong enough to commit myself to th ese classes, they don't seem to want to take no for an answer. The other thing is In the month of October 2009 I got pnemounia and my lung collasped and I spent 5 day in ICU and 5 days on the ward. I just think it's too soon. What if any thoughts do you have. Guest guest
Bernie - Sounds like it would be fun. Exercise is not a competition, it is a quest to fuller range of motion and heightened endurance. As Beth said, use your oxygen. There may be some breathing techniques that would help you as well, check with the staff offering the exercise classes. With your oximeter you can check to see if you need to increase you oxygen for certain exercises. I don't need any oxygen for most anaerobic exercises, but need more oxygen for some of the aerobic exercises. Watch it carefully. Make sure your heart can take it... check with your doctor just to be on the safe side. They would likely not be inviting you if they didn't think you could do it. So you go and you do what you can. Use your oxygen, make sure your O2 level stays above 90. (Do you have an oximeter?) > You may not be able to do every activity in the class and that's ok, you do what you can. I think you might be amazed at what you can do in a relatively short period of time. > > Obviously it's your decision and you know yourself and your body best but it might be worth giving it a try. > > Beth > Moderator > Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 Dermatomyositis 11/08 > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: Breathe-Support > Sent: Fri, January 8, 2010 9:43:27 AM > Subject: Re:crawl before we can walk! > > > > Hi Friends, What do you think about this ?
