Guest guest
Leinee was a natural vaginal birth. No problems were noted with her head following delivery. When she was about 6 weeks old, I began to notice that she would always sleep with her head turned toward the left. She was sleeping in a bassinet at the time with a positioner wedge due to some difficulties with reflux. I tried to turn her head when I would put her down to nap/sleep but she would always turn it back to the one side. I noticed a slight flattening at that point. At her two month well check, I decided not to mention it to the doctor because I thought if it was a big deal her doctor would say something. Leinee's pediatrician, being as great a doctor as she is, noticed it during her examination. She said to continue to try to reposition her for the next couple of months and to take some pictures to help tell if there was any change good or bad. Six weeks later, I knew the repositioning was not helping Leinee's head. Our pediatrician agreed that she was now approaching the severe range. She wrote our script for a consult with Cranial Technologies. Our first visit was a bit shocking. In their pictures, we could tell the asysmetry in her face and ears that had resulted from the plagio. We decided, a very easy decision at that point, to band Leinee with or without insurance help. She was a week from 5 months old when she started her treatment and graduated 7 weeks later. Her process was picture perfect, no problems. Today she is a beautiful, 14 month old toddler with an outgoing personality. I thank GOD every day that the DOC band was invented to help children such as Leinee.
