Unwired / Unbanded...bite feels a little wobbly -- normal?

So after having upper and lower on Aug. 1st, i was wired shut for 2

weeks, then banded shut for another 2 -- I got debanded the other day,

which was somewhat liberating, and the doc said the bite looked great.

He gave me permission to take off my elastics when I eat soft foods

now. Here's what's giving me a little concern: when I take my

elastics off and open my jaw (at least open it the 12 or so mm I'm

able to), the closing isn't at all what I'd describe as a smooth

movement, but rather my lower jaw seems to wobbly unevenly as I move

it -- it eventually finds its way back to its 'resting' position (the

one it was banded shut in for 4 weeks), but not what I'd call

a 'smooth' journey -- does this sound more or less normal?
