Guest guest
Hi y'all- I had surgery a week ago today and I am doing well...but I'm starving! Any ideas on what to drink? I am COMPLETELY wired shut, so I am limited to liquids. Ensure is ok, but I think I need something else. I'm going to be wired shut for 3 more weeks so any ideas are more than welcome! Also, my doctor had to put a piece of plastic/wax (I'm not really sure what it is) in between my teeth while my jaws are healing. It makes it extremely difficult to talk. I thought I would be able to talk better than this while my mouth is wired shut. I teach a visually impaired class (my students are all blind) so it's really important that I can talk to them and I won't be unwired until after the first week of school. Am I going to be able to talk better or is this it until I get these wires cut? Thanks y'all! I'd really appreciate any responses.
Guest guest
, That must suck to be wired shut. I'd guess the thing between your teeth is a metal and acrylic splint. I have one so I know how you feel (but I wasn't wired, only banded). As for food, I'd suggest chicken or beef broth, maybe with protein powder mixed in. You can get protein powder at a health food store. Be sure to get unflavored if you want to use it with savory items like broth. Otherwise, there are vanilla and lots of other flavors you can mix with milk, soymilk or juice. Another good beverage is Odwalla smoothees. My favorite is the Vanilla Almondo protein smoothee. How about: Spaghetti sauce, Alfredo sauce, cheese sauce, any soups, bean soups blended, mac and cheese or other pastas blended and thinned with milk or broth ... Hope that gives you some ideas. Good luck! Hang in there! Luna
