Guest guest
Ouch. This is sad to hear because even if it is healed now at some time it must have hurt. Maybe it was during birth. I would be interested in what the orthopedic specialist has to say. thanks for posting. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > > I posted this to the Tort page as well, but since there are allot of people dealing with Tort on here I wanted it posted here also. > > I decided to take my daughter who will be 1 on Saturday to a Chiropractor for her unresolved tort. I took with me x-rays that were previously taken in May and July of this year so I would not have to pay for more x-rays. Imagine my shock when the doctor asked me when my daughter broke her clavical? Considering that until that moment I had not known. Both x-rays clearly show a break that had already healed and was calcifying. > I took her the following day to my Ped with the same x-rays and she verified that my daughter at some point in her life had a broken claviacal. She has had tort pretty much since birth. It is my belief that she had a broken clavical since birth. She screamed pretty much from day 1 till about 12 weeks. Ped always said colic / reflux....now I really wonder. > I was always told that her Tort was probably because of her size as she was a big baby. Tort is a symptom, maybe the broken bone was the trigger to our medical journey. Guest guest
Wow I'm surprised none of your doctors or specialists noticed it sooner, especially when you had x-rays taken months ago! I have a similar story but instead of tort my son has brachy. My doctor said she heard a snap during the birthing process so right after he was born they swept him away for x-rays and confirmed his collarbone was broken. I felt really bad for him but it never seemed to bother him, he never cried excessively or showed any signs of pain. During his six month checkup our pediatrician said his head looked misshaped and referred us to Cranial Tech. CT diagnosed him with brachy which was more severe on his left side. They explained that since his right clavicle was broken he most likely preferred to lay towards his left side, and that probably caused the flattening to be worse on his left side. Our son doesn't have tort but since CT said his broken clavicle was likely the reason his left side was flatter, I don't see why it couldn't also trigger tort? -Kelli Bryson 10 months, graduates from Docband in 2 weeks > > > > > > I posted this to the Tort page as well, but since there are allot of people dealing with Tort on here I wanted it posted here also. > > > > I decided to take my daughter who will be 1 on Saturday to a Chiropractor for her unresolved tort. Guest guest
Thanks for posting about this. I'm really interested to see what comes of this because my son has tort and I think had a broken clavicle that went undiagnosed. My (much younger than me) brother had a broken clavicle from birth, and it wasn't discovered until a few weeks later when my mother pointed out the knot of bone on his clavicle to the doctor. It turns out that was the reason he only wanted to nurse on one side at first. My son also has a knot on his clavicle which I assume was caused from a break at birth since he had a really difficult delivery. It's on the same side as his tort, but I had no idea they might be related. If there's any way this might be treatable, I'd like to know. Please keep me posted! > > > > > > > > > I posted this to the Tort page as well, but since there are allot of people dealing with Tort on here I wanted it posted here also. > > > > > > I decided to take my daughter who will be 1 on Saturday to a Chiropractor for her unresolved tort.
