New Helmet is crooked

Hi. My baby got his helmet two days ago, and we can't seem to get it to go on

straight. The center line is slightly shifted to one side, so that the ear holes

are not even (one side presses against the back of his ear and the other side

presses against the front). Also, it does not cover all of his forehead and

leaves a red mark on one side (which fades after an hour or so). I thought it

was supposed to sit just above the brow?

When we did the initial fitting, orthotist said it was okay that the helmet was

not centered, but I'm worried that maybe the helmet does not fit him correctly.

He does have pretty severe plagiocephaly (15mm) and it's a Hanger helmet. Can

anyone offer their own experiences or advice? Should we continue to break the

band in over the weekend or take it off and wait until Monday? Thanks.

My son has been in a Hanger helmet for a week so far. I can just tell you how

his is fitting as he was measured at 15 mm also though I was told that was

mild, so no helmet initially reccomended ,I felt like I had to press the issue

to get helemt, so its interesting that you were told it was severe. but my

sons helmet does seem to be centered and goes down to the eyebrows...do make

sure you are seating it right though as I think the first day I let it fall back

too far above his brows. It would be normal for there to be a gap on one side

due to the bossed area, however not sure about the rest. and I don't think it

should press on the ears. I was told it can be normal for it to move a bit till

he grows into it, but my sons does not move around much so I think the fit is

good for him. I would call the ortho to discuss it further. I guess I would

continue to wear it if you aren't seeing persistent red spots but if you are

don't wear it. hopefully someone else can give you further advice.
