swollen lymph nodes??

hi, my son who is 7 mos has been in his band for 5 weeks. Last night I noticed

he seemed to have swollen lymph nodes at the base of the neck. This is the

first time I have noticed this. There does seem to be alot of pressure from the

band in that area, always has been on the " bulging " side and now the other side

is the same pressure. Anyway, I am concerend if this is could be from the

helmet or just some other cause?? He slept terrible last night so I took the

helmet off and he still woke constantly. I do notice a slight runny nose today

so maybe he has a cold or something? but he slept fine the last time he had a

cold. He has mildy dry scalp and mild itchiness maybe the nodes are from that?

Either way I am concerend not to put the band back on and not sure who to

consult for the best advice. I will take him to his Ped on Monday hopefully,

but she has never even seen a child with a helemt befor, (said he is the first

to get one!)so I am sure she will not know if this is caused by the helemt???

and the ortho may say see the Ped??

Anyone have any ideas??

The same exact thing happened to us. They helmet rubbing there can cause it, but it emerged during an ear infection. I was told by the pediatirican that the ear infection alone could have caused it, but the ortho also said that the helmet could as well. 's swollen lymph node is still there, but the doctor isn't worried about it. She said that she only worries if there are multiple swollen nodes. But, to be sure, I'd check with the doctor. In the meantime, having the helmet on shouldn't be a problem. The baby's fussiness is likely due to the cold. If there is a fever, be sure to leave the helmet off.

hi,

my son had the same issue when we started the helmet. I took him to the Ped and

was told that it was not an issue.the ped also said that lymph nodes are

considered swollen if they are more than pea size.

I just kept an eye on those lymph nodes. it never got worse or seemed like it

bothered my son.

Thanks , I took my son to the Dr today and he has an ear infection! He's suddenly got a pretty bad cold with fever and hacking etc, and only 7 mos, so thats why I took him in, I wonder if I would have ever noticed the swollen nodes if he weren't wearing the helmet?? guess that was the very first indication! hopefully they will go away after he is well!
