Guest guest
Kathy, That is absolutely wonderful. It sounds as though you are going to be able to get him down to where you want him. I'm starting to feel ready to move on (in terms of 's head). I'm thinking that it looks so normal to me these days. I don't have official computer scan measurements, but I do have hand measurements and even pictures that show improvement. I believe that she is down below 90 percent and her hair is finally growing enough that it is difficult to notice anything different about her head. Hey, I even have her in pigtails most days and I think she looks great. She still is seeing the chiro once a week and we will probably go back for one more CST appointment in February. I will ask for another set of measurements then. I'm still debating on getting another STARscan to get the final official set of computer measurements. Plus, I'm still doing her CST home exercises at least a few times a week. The good news is that (according to the experts), her spine is in alignment, her head is "moving well," and she no longer needs her reflux medication. Hopefully, you'll be able to feel just as good about 's head soon. At those measurements, I'm sure that the average person wouldn't be able to notice anything. , mom to , 28 months STARband grad May 2009 Chiro and CST land Update on older baby Hi,We had a big week for 's head. He is going on 19 months with 7 months in his Starband. Our scan this week showed the asymmetry is down to 3.5mm and the brachy measurement to 83.5. At 11.5 months the measurements were 7-8mm asymmetry and 86.5 for brachy. The improvement has been pretty steady with at least as much from 15.5 to 18.5 months as 12.5 to 15.5 months. started the helmet the week of his first birthday. I believe one reason our drop in asymmetry is not more is that pretty much all the improvement is from the back since the forehead was so minor to start with. I think if a forehead bulge is involved, there is greater potential for improvement in numbers. There was no mention of stopping the helmet at our appointment. My husband thinks the ortho didn't say it was time to take the helmet off because we still saw improvement. Our next appointment will be in 6 weeks.'s plagio is getting more difficult for others to see. It is still visible to me. Some people can see it if I tell them and they look. My husband sees it, but it is not as obvious to him as before. At our chiro appointment this week, the chiro had a tough time finding any soft spot. It is about closed and the chiro is not as optimistic about improvement after it closes. Before she said 's head would improve and now she says it could. (For my older son she says it probably won't improve.)We also had an osteopath appointment. He said 's head is moving well for his age.For now we took the splint off 's ear. There has been little to no improvement and the ear is still a bit anterior. :|( We may try putting the splint back on. Our nanny thinks once we remove the helmet, we should have sleep with a hat holding his ears down instead. She says her mom did this for her sister and it worked, but she was younger. We will keep treating and hope for more improvement. Hardly any improvement will put us down into normal range and help visually.Oh, and 's older brother had his second appointment with the osteopath this week too and it went well.-Kathy, mom to almost 19 months, and 5 years, both with very mild plagio

Guest guest
Hi , Thanks! That is great you think 's head looks so normal. All the appointments are exhausting. Are you going to continue with some alternative treatments? For my older son, I feel alternative treatments have benefits other than just the head and if the head improves too that is good also. I was really happy with 's head scan. Even slow improvement adds up over time. The flat spot in the upper back right still bothers me, so I'm going to keep working and hoping for more improvement. Actually, my older son's flat spot may be worse, but I'm not sure 's hair will end up as thick. The ortho adjusted the helmet so it does not push as much on the left cheek. I think the helmet was getting tight. My husband said putting as much pressure on the left cheek is not as important since 's head has become more symmetrical. After a couple days, 's cheek seemed to puff out at least most the way and I'm really relieved. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, We will definately continue with the chiro because of the continued benefits to her digestive system. I'm not sure about the CST because her PT is ready to dismiss her. If we get more services there, it will likely be through someone else and without insurance reimbursement. I will wait and see how our appointment goes in February. Maybe I'll take her back to check and see how her head is doing in the sping and just do periodic appointments from there on out. I think that as long as her spine is in alignment and her sutures are freed up, we'll continue to get minor improvements in the head. Plus, as you say, there are other benefits to both the chiro and the CST. Like your older son (who has sensory issues, correct?), will benefit in more ways than her head from both treatments. In some ways, it feels so freeing to be comfortable with her head. I feel ready to start focusing on other things. After 12 plus months of obsessing about her head, it feels great. No, her head isn't as long as her brother's head, but it's not that different from many of the other heads that I see around. In fact, I see lots of heads that are wider than hers and no one thinks anything of it. Her small flat spot is less noticable with every hair cut. You'll see what I mean when you finally reach this place. I am very glad that I didn't stop seeking improvement after the helmet because I believe that it was the additional improvement that allowed me to get to this place. Plus, we ended up with additional benefits with a cure for her reflux. I'm secretly hoping that it will also help with the food intolerances. We'll soon see as we are about to do some food challenges after we return from the grandparent's house. If not, then that's my next challenge for - to research alternative options for this. we've waited long enough for her to outgrow these on her own. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, my oldest son has minor sensory integration issues. It would be great if these treatments help with that! I'm very happy for you. Hopefully, next year I'm in the same place. -Kathy, mom to almost 19 months and 5 years wrote:  Hi Kathy,  We will definately continue with the chiro because of the continued benefits to her digestive system.
