Here's another good "snack bar:" Gertrude & Bronner's Magic Alpsnack.

My favorite of several flavors is "apricots & cranberries." I usually buy it at Whole Foods; not all their branches carry it, though.

I like the flavor and texture very much. All the bars are dairy, gluten and wheat free, and they're vegan. The apricot and cranberry version contains organic almonds, hemp nuts, apricots, apples, cranberries, sugar, sunflower oil, rice crisps, sea salt, rice syrup, lemon juice, and vitamin E.

A bar contains more than 500 mg of Omega-3 and some unstated amount of Omega 6, due to the hemp nuts in the recipe.

They're made in Escondido, and all profits are devoted to hemp advocacy. It bears the USDA Organic seal and the the Oregon Tile Certified Organic seal.

Since we are on the subject of GF snack bars, I've found two new varietiesat Trader Joes recently, both are vegan and are explicitly labeled as gluten free.Larabars and Clif Nectar bars are both based largely on dates, come in variousflavors, and all seem to have some tree nuts as well as some type of fruit for flavor.I'm especially fond of the green apple flavored Larabars and the Chocolateand Walnut flavored Clif Nectar bars.Be careful if you go shopping for Clif Bars, almost all of their products containgluten. I just discovered the Larabars myself (yesterday at Whole Foods). I tried the "cherry pie" flavor -- which tasted just like cherry pie! -- it only has 3 ingredients: dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries.

I'm glad I found it -- I'm a housecleaner, and I need to take snacks with me when I work. Though the Larabar probably isn't great on the glycemic index (dates are really sugary), I do feel better after eating it than after eating something like, say, Pamela's cookies...

Best,

Sue
