Guest guest
Hi, We had a big week for 's head. He is going on 19 months with 7 months in his Starband. Our scan this week showed the asymmetry is down to 3.5mm and the brachy measurement to 83.5. At 11.5 months the measurements were 7-8mm asymmetry and 86.5 for brachy. The improvement has been pretty steady with at least as much from 15.5 to 18.5 months as 12.5 to 15.5 months. started the helmet the week of his first birthday. I believe one reason our drop in asymmetry is not more is that pretty much all the improvement is from the back since the forehead was so minor to start with. I think if a forehead bulge is involved, there is greater potential for improvement in numbers. There was no mention of stopping the helmet at our appointment. My husband thinks the ortho didn't say it was time to take the helmet off because we still saw improvement. Our next appointment will be in 6 weeks. 's plagio is getting more difficult for others to see. It is still visible to me. Some people can see it if I tell them and they look. My husband sees it, but it is not as obvious to him as before. At our chiro appointment this week, the chiro had a tough time finding any soft spot. It is about closed and the chiro is not as optimistic about improvement after it closes. Before she said 's head would improve and now she says it could. (For my older son she says it probably won't improve.) We also had an osteopath appointment. He said 's head is moving well for his age. For now we took the splint off 's ear. There has been little to no improvement and the ear is still a bit anterior. :|( We may try putting the splint back on. Our nanny thinks once we remove the helmet, we should have sleep with a hat holding his ears down instead. She says her mom did this for her sister and it worked, but she was younger. We will keep treating and hope for more improvement. Hardly any improvement will put us down into normal range and help visually. Oh, and 's older brother had his second appointment with the osteopath this week too and it went well. -Kathy, mom to almost 19 months, and 5 years, both with very mild plagio
