Guest guest
I've been meaning to post my son Dominic' s photo study for some time now. He had very severe Brachycephaly, with a CI of 101.5% per Cranial Tech. He began treatment at 4.25 months of age. He graduated 6 months later at 10.25 months, with a CI of 84%. During that time period, he wore three consecutive bands, with no time spent inbetween bands. CT did not recommend his third band, but luckily they agreed to do it upon my insistence. I should note that this photo study was not taken at graduation, but about a month prior, due to an issue that I had at the time. My son would not cooperate on his graduation day, so we just decided that the last photo study was recent enough, and didn't do another one.The arrows in the birdseye view are showing the huge bulge that Dominic acquired from the fluid build up of his last 2 bands. (It was a post that I made on the babycenter plagio group, describing my concern with the bulge at that time.) Dominic has been out of his band for about a month and a half. The huge bulge from the fluid build up is pretty much resolved. I should note that the right profile view now looks pretty much identical to the left. The slight forehead bossing seen in that view has been eradicated. I'm not sure if it was improved during the month after the photo study was taken or if the bulge was somehow altering his overall look. Perhaps both, because it looks much better now. I wanted to post this because you often hear about Brachy improving, but not ever fully correcting. I was told that Brachy was the hardest to treat of the 3 head shapes and I do believe this to be true. I realize that my son's results are not typical. That being said, it is possible for severe brachy to normalize with early treatment, which in my experience required a series of DOC Bands. Any feedback is welcomed!DanaDominic 11.75 monthsDOC Band Grad 04.14.
