Guest guest
We have our first official appt on Friday to have the twins assessed. I am certain twin A is going to need a helmet due to his torticollis. It is amazing how much worse his plagio has gotten in just the past 6 weeks. He has PT once a week and I try to stretch his 3 to 4 times a day but struggle to find time with to other little ones. I am very hopeful that the helmet will help. His head is getting very distorted, on top of the assemetry that he has had since birth. Twin B had some flattening on opposite side of twin A but that is better now with positioning, his forhead sticks out still on the flat side quite a bit more than the other (really only noticable if you look closely or if you look from above). What should we expect at our appointment. Should we go ahead and have them start the process before getting approval from insurance company? We were told by my husbands coworker that our insurance does not cover DOC bands but that it covers two other types. I am assuming it will cover Hanger and Star bands. From what I have been reading, it sounds like everyone is partial to DOC bands and it does seem like they are better and the orthotist are more knowledgable. Should we see someone with Hanger and Star? Does anyone know any Doctors in Dallas, TX that work with these? I just hate to delay. Also $4K is alot and we may need one for twin B. My other concern is that twin A may need another due to severity of Tort?? Anyone have similia experiences, advice? How about advice on getting our insurance company to work with us?
