Guest guest
My eyes are my biggest problem and I keep thinking I'm going to lose my sight and it's scary. I have pressure, blurriness, and occasional burning and pains in my eyes, and I see lots of floaters which erupted on the same day as my neurological lyme symptoms. Most of my neurological symptoms are gone, but my eye problems remain each and every day. I keep blinking and closing my eyes and going to sleep early, hoping they'll be find when I wake up -- but they're not. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can really be done about floaters. I've got specks, spots all through my vision almost like there are flies everywhere, and those floaters will probably never go away for the rest of my life. Greg [ ] Eye problem I just got the news from my lyme doctor that my western blot confirmed that I have lyme disease. As some of you might remember my wife has it too. Hard to believe I have it and kind of depressing. Seems I got it before my wife because ten years ago I had a blood transfusion during a surgery I had and ever since then I have never been the same. Anyway, my biggest concern right now is what is going on with my eyes. I have some blurriness and pressure in my eyes. I can't stand bright lights or being outside in the sun when it is bright. I have been on doxy for about seven days now. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you get better or worse? I sure hope this is just a temporary thing. It's best to have an eye Dr. take a look inside your eye......Uveitis causes permanent damage to the eye (irreversible)....and can cause blindness if gone untreated. Have an someone look at your eyes. I have had chronic uveitis for about 20 years.......and only recently has it quieted down. Guest guest
" I can't stand bright lights or being outside in the sun when it is bright. " i am also extremely sensitive to light and to patterns (and have lots of floaters). my understanding is that increased light sensitivity is one of symptoms of chronic neurotoxins, which could be result of toxins from lyme spirochettes. for instance, dr. shoemaker's protocol, http://www.chronicneurotoxins.com/ , is uses a visual contrast sensitivity (vcs) test because the toxins cause changes to the eyes. i took his vcs test on the web, which was positive. it was first thing that got me thinking i might have something other than fibromyalgia. deep peace, kendra
Guest guest
I get them too. I only seem to notice them in bright light. I remember year 1 or 2 after tickbite in my teens, wanting to get a tan really bad (very white skin). I was lying in a lounge chair with my eyes covered with a towel, and peeking at the beams of light (that you see when you squint). Everytime Id blink, these clear little spots that remind me of amoebas or bacteria on a slide, would move and slide down, then return to where they were. I noticed the same thing looking thru a microscope. Those are the two times Id actually notice them. Needless to say I dont spend much time squinting in bright sun since I found out it brings on the migraines. But they dont bother me in regular vision, I dont notice them then. However...after 20+ years of lyme, I have two blind spots in the back of my retina. That is normally something that only old people develop. If I look at the stars at night, to look directly at one makes it 'disappear'. I have to look right NEXT to it, in order to see it peripherally. I have some glow in the dark stickers near lightswitches in my house, which do the same thing. I see it peripherally, but to look directly at it makes it vanish, black. So lyme causes this somehow. I also have suddenly lost the ability to focus my eyes.. I had 20/10 vision all my life. Now over the course of a month, I cant read a darned thing, see closeup in a mirror, none of that. Its very annoying. Its as if I can no longer focus my eyes at all. I used to be able to read the MAKER on the eye chart, besides the chart itself. Does lyme make you lose your vision so drastically all at once? I also get the tremor in the eye muscles, usually only brought on by being tired or trying to read, where your eyes shake involuntarily for about a second or two. I remember a neurologists test for that, where a checkerboard pattern on a tv that youre staring at tries to induce it. Guest guest
My son was recently given a helmet and we noticed that his eye was droopy. After a week of wearing it his eye was visibly different. the doctor didn't seem that concerned and said it was normal. Has anyone else had this problem? It doesn't make sense to fix his head and disfigure his face. It literally looks like his eyes are two different shapes now. i was thinking about ditching the helmet and getting the band. It would be very hard to convince my mother-in-law to do some of the things recommended but I can try. The information is most appreciated.
