Contact Let Them Hear Organization. www.letthemhear.org they can

help you with you appeal. I don't know what your rejection letter

stated but my first rejection letter stated that they do not cover

hearing aids. The company needed to be educated on the difference

in a CI and a hearing aid.

Keep us posted

There is an organization that helps people fight their insurance companies for

free to help them get cochlear implants. It is called the Let Them Hear

Foundation.Their email address is advocacy@..., phone 877-432-7435 &

web address to file an insurance appeal through them is

http://advocacy.letthemhear.org/

You also may be able to get help in fighting the insurance company through the

manufacturer of the implant that you choose. I'm not sure about that part, but

it couldn't hurt to ask them. Good luck,

Jane

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO

FOUGHT WITH AN INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET COVERAGE?

Hi Colleen

Medicaid is a state funded program and varies from state to state.

Medicare is a federal program.

Medicare will cover the surgery and appointments and the device.

Medicaid - really depends on the state that one lives. But many

states have been known to cover a cochlear implant and all the

associated items (surgery, audiology appointments, etc)

Hi, We go tomorrow to get our 5 month old sons measurements/pictures for his

mold at CT. We have WellPath Ins. (under Coventry). They will not cover the

band, it is in the exclusions. I am wondering if anyone out there with

Wellpath/Cov. have had success in fighting for some sort of funding, and what

type of forms did you send to be successful.

Thanks for your help.
