hi all,

My son has been in a Hanger helmet for about 6 weeks now. He started with 12 mm

CVA I think, and he had 4-6 mm growth the first 4 weeks, so the ortho says he

was almost in the normal range and may be done after his next appt which is

next week (7 weeks) While I am very happy he has improved so much so fast, I can

see a huge difference, he looks generally normal to me now , and even his ears

have improved! yet I do still see a bit of forehead bossing and the bulge on

the right side a bit, and seems a bit flat at the top part of the head. I am

not sure if this is some brachy or normal or what?? but anyway, I am just

wondering how should I know when he is done with/outgrown his band?? other than

the fact at which I am satisfied with the appearance... which I almost am....but

I do want to be sure to get the best possible correction now while we can and

while we have the band. There is still tons of foam in the helemt, not much has

been shaved away actually. Getting another opinion is not likely unless we go to

another state and at this point not much of an option. My husbnad was opposed

to the helmet in the first place and while he has been fine with it, he is

getting concerned that it will " make his head small " I am also very concerned

about " regression " since he is delayed with motor skills and not rolling, or

pushing up much and still sleeps on his back. should he need to see the cranial

specialist who gave the Rx??

would appreciate any advice on how to know when he should be done with this

helmet?
