It probably varies by the details of the plan. I have a contact off this board who has that insurance and said that it covered the STARband at 80 percent. Hers was the MD Carefirst plan.

Insurance help

Has anyone gotten Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield to cover their cranial band? What are my chances of getting it covered with an appeal?

Have you read over your plan? Does it actuallye exclude " orthotics " ? When I

spoke to my insurance company MDIPA which is a United Healthcare Plan--it was

referred to as a " durable medical equipment " . Perhaps you can ask them if they

cover " durable medical equipments " . I even had a specific insurance code for

it--perhaps that may help.

DOC band because they are claiming that it is orthotic and that orthotics are

not covered. Has anyone been successful arguing that the DOC band is not

orthotic? Any help is appreciated.

I have UHC Choice Plus and orthotics are not covered either even when I told them the specific code that would be used to bill. Makes no sense but they say it's not medically necessary.

My insurance treats DOC bands as medical equipment and says that orthotics are specifically those inserts that go into your shoes.
