We felt exactly the same way when our son got his helmet. Every few day was a little better. It is day 10 and it doesn't bother him at all anymore. He furs a bit when it first goes on, but 5 second layer he is fine.

The first few days I felt terrible about it, but we made it through and it is easy now.
