Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to the group. My son, who is 7 1/2 months, was a breech baby and was diagnosed with torticollis at 2 months and after repositioning techniques failed it was determined at 4 months that he would need to wear some sort of cranial band. After getting the run around with Cranial Tech we were left with no choice but to go with Hanger. I liked Cranial Tech much better, because they were very professional and knowledgeable on cranial banding, whereas Hanger didn't give off that same vibe and our orthotist is far from friendly. But, we had no choice but to go with Hanger unless we could come up with the $3800 for the DOC Band. My son has been in the Hanger helmet for a week and a half and can't seem to adjust. The first few days were a piece of cake. The next few days were much more difficult and all he did was whine/cry when it was on. We went for our 7 day follow up appointment and some adjustments needed to be made because it was too loose and his left ear, the one that is more forward than the other, was getting covered up by the helmet and our orthotist put what looks like a makeup pad on the inside of the helmet by the base of his skull to get it to stop moving around. Now when we put the helmet on him he just screams bloody murder. Have anyone else's children had a hard time with the helmet? We're supposed to be at 23 hours a day at this point.
