Yes we are also hoping it will improve. Thanks for the suggestions of contacting their headquarters, we never thought of that. In the little time that she has worn the Doc-Band we are happy with the progress. It's just that I feel the staff could be a little more compassionate. We have gotten various answers, and have been told conflicting information from different therapist. We were also told by the women who took the pics and did the DMI for her helmet measurements that when we come for the weekly appts we would have the same therapist every time. We have been then 3 times, and have seen 3 different thereapist. Also, when we went for the initial eval - we felt the therapist acted as though she was doing us a favor. When we asked her about research as to whether or not there are any medical issues if a child doesn't get a helmet, her response was "The research is very limited, because what parent would be in the control group, and say Don't do anything for my child." We felt as though she was calling us bad parents if we decided not to go with the helmet. When our peditrician made the referral she said that we would probably get exercises to do at home and that helmets are only rec. in severe cases, which she didn't think our daughter had. When we mentioned this to the therapist doing the eval she discounted it, and said "no, that she definitely needs a helmet" She never showed us any exercises even though we inquired. When we went back for her fitting - these ladies noticed her neck tilt and asked if we had been doing any exercises with her. This made us very upset, as this was about 3-4 weeks after that initial eval when we were told she wouldn't benefit from them. When we brought this up, they right away covered and said it was because there was no doctors order for exercises. The doctors order was for "treatment". I believe they were just trying to cover for the other therapist. They then showed us some exercises to do. What really made us mad was that we were told the weekly followups only take about 15 minutes. The office is about an hour from our home, and both me and my husband work, so when we schedule the appt we have to take time off, or try to work a half a day. The last time we were there we had to wait 20 minutes just to be seen. The whole thing took about 45 minutes - which was going to make my husband late for work. When we went to leave to make our appt for the following week there was no one at the reception desk. We waited about 5 minutes before I started calling out, "hello". Then a women (who took her initial pics at the eval) came out and told us, not so nicely that between noon and 1 is when everyone goes on lunch. I was so upset. If the appt was only 15 minutes like it was suppose to be then we wouldn't have had to inturrupt her lunch in the first place. And secondly, what kind of customer service is that? Was it our fault that they ran late? We are paying a lot of money to try and do the right thing for our daughter, but as you can see - we haven't been wowed by some of the staff there....................

sorry to hear things aren't going well. My daughter wore a starband in california. If you are having problems that the IL office isn't addressing to your satisfaction, you can try contacting the headquarters in AZ. Hope that things will improve for you.

We went to Oakbrook as well. I don't know that I ever really got too close to any of the therapists there as ours left half way through for maternity leave. We however, were lucky enough to never experience any real problems with fit, scheduling was never an issue, and they took a real liking to my babies. I went through 3 bands with their office and I did go to the Skokie office once when I was concerned about a area along the back seem that I thought was rubbing too much because of band shifting. 3 different people checked it that day and the problem was able to be corrected. If you were a member of the group not too long ago you may recall my message about over-correction. My little girl did get evaluated because she was having over-correction from her band. They were going to re-do her DSI and fit her with a new band. I chose to have them evaluate her as a new patient all together, re-do measurements and pictures. According to that evaluation, they felt if she were a new patient coming in, she did not meet the criteria for a band. Her measurements were all borderline, her visual assymetry was insignificant and even to the trained eye, it was hard to visualize any issue. Whose fault was the over-correction? I will never know. I am interested however in hearing more as to what your concerns are? Is it a staff issue, a band issue, etc.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about my experience there.

Thanks ,

We've been happy with the band so far. Wednesday, it will be 3 weeks. Our issues have more to do with the staff. This has been our experience thus far:

I feel the staff could be a little more compassionate. We have gotten various answers, and have been told conflicting information from different therapist/orthotists. We were also told by the women who took the pics and did the DMI for her helmet measurements that when we come for the weekly appts we would have the same orthotist every time. We have been then 3 times, and have seen 3 different orhotists.

Another thing that upset us was that we were told the weekly followups only take about 15 minutes. Then a woman (who took her initial pics at the eval) came out and told us, not so nicely that between noon and 1 is when everyone goes on lunch. She seemed put off that I had interrupted her. I was so upset. If the appt was only 15 minutes like it was suppose to be then we wouldn't have had to inturrupt her lunch in the first place. And secondly, what kind of customer service is that? Was it our fault that they ran late? We are paying a lot of money to try and do the right thing for our daughter, but as you can see - we haven't been wowed by some of the staff there. It just seems that things aren't consistent. I was looking forward to having the same orthotist every time but that hasn't been the case - we haven't even seen the same one twice! I just keep thinking that all that matters is that the band works and in the end our daughter will have a rounder shaped head.
