Guest guest
I am the mother to triplets (2 of which need cranial remolding). We are in MS and I quickly found out not many kids in MS get the remolding helmets b/c there is NOBODY around here that really has much expierence with them. Upon the advise of my Ped, he sent me to a " NEW " place in town that has a guy with cranial helmet exp. Make a long story short, we are 2 months into it and getting nowhere. I have been back in twice a week telling them the helmets do not fit. They shift, pinch ears, twist, come down on eyebrow. Finally I told them I was going for a second opinion since they kept telling me the helmet fit and I would just need to " reposition " it from time to time. After hearing I would go somewhere else they were quick to tell me they were just going to make a new helmet. I was furious. I left the helmets there and told them I would call them back when I thought about things. Now, to present day. The closet places to me with any exp with helmets would be Children's Hospital in New Orleans or the Dallas Cranial Tech. I have spoken with the people at Cranial and I am very impressed. I would like to know if you think it is worth the while to go that far. They are 6 hours away (and I will have 3 babies with me). If New Orleans would be just as good, it would be so much easier to go there. Ultimately, I need to do the best thing and I will deal with the stress of getting there. Also, did they cast or digitally imagine in the fitting process. My place did the cast. Everyone else I talk with says they don't cast. I am just trying to figure out what to do next!
