Welcome to the group. My daughter wore a starband (ages ago, she's almost 5

now). They sweat a lot at first so take the band off from time to time and wipe

down the head and the band. Also when putting it on/off you might need help at

first or put them in a high chair. They don't usually like having it put on/off,

so it gets easier when you are leaving it on all day. It does get a little

stinky even if you clean it well, but overall it isn't too bad. You'll quickly

get used to it and so will your son. Plus at his age you should see changes

fairly quickly.

My son had rashes at first, and our therapist recommended that we tape the edges

of the band with " moleskin " . It really helped! (I change the moleskin every four

or five days.) and tea tree shampoo helped with the itching, too.

good luck!

Congrats on getting started!

We really hyped up the helmet like it was so cute and a special present for our

son. He totally bought into it and loved wearing it most of the time. So, make

sure you act happy when they put it on. Ooh and ahh!

Make sure to always clean it with alcohol, and shampoo his hair every day. Make

sure the helmet and hair are totally dry before putting it back on. We found

that we needed to clean our son's helmet twice a day with alcohol instead of

once or he'd get a rash. Like said, wipe the sweat out with a dry

towel. We did it at each diaper change so we wouldn't forget. But, make sure you

get the 23 hours in (after your " break-in " period). Put the helmet right back on

after wiping it. The sweat will get a lot better in about a week, and you won't

need to wipe it so often.

Most babies don't mind the helmet, but if your baby doesn't sleep well or

doesn't like the helmet at first, try not to get upset. Stay positive around the

baby and be persistent. Taking the helmet off because your baby cries will only

confuse him and make him think the helmet is optional. Consistency will help him

get used to it more quickly.

We had great results even starting at 9 months, so I'm sure you'll be excited to

see some quick improvement! Keep us posted!

Thanks so much for the information... I was really excited about getting the

band until they started the process of him getting fitted then it kinda made me

sad. I feel so bad that he will have to wear it 23 hours a day, and I couldn't

imagine having to sleep in it. I am sure it will be very uncomfortable.

He is very hot natured and sweats a lot already, so im sure his helmet will

need cleaned often.

Does anyone have pics of before and after the band? How long is the break in

period, or how long do they where it during that period?
