Hi,

I am thinking it is time to have 's neck evaluated more

thoroughly. The most concerned so far other than me has been the

chiropractor and all she says is his neck is a little off and then she

adjusts it. was never diagnosed with torticollis and I am fairly

confident he never had it. (Thinking back, I think my 5.5 year old had

mild torticollis that led to his plagio.) has a preference to turn

right, especially when sleeping, but he never had a head tilt. He is

able to turn both directions. He just turns right more than left. When

he is sleeping on his back, he sometimes turns so far that his chin is

to his shoulder. I had noticed it less since he started the

chiropractor visits last May.

However, lately it has regressed. This may be because he started

daycare in Jan and he will only nap there sitting up! He sleeps in a

low rocking chair at daycare. When the teachers try to lay him down, he

wakes up. We are surprised that he refuses to nap like the other kids.

This has me very worried about his neck. Besides when we remove the

helmet, I would prefer he did not favor sleeping on his flat spot.

For those of you taking your children for neck therapy, who diagnosed

the neck problems? Was it the pediatrician? Should I see a physical

therapist? Are there neck specialists? We are in the process of

switching pediatricians. The old one wasn't concerned about the neck,

but then I am switching because of her casual attitude about multiple

things, including the head. Should I take into the new

pediatrician before his next scheduled check up, which isn't until June?

Any advise on what to do about the neck? Thanks in advance. I don't

know what I would do without this group during this difficult time.

BTW, I'm so relieved to finally being switching pediatricians! It is

mentally a tiny bit of closure to this plagio ordeal.

Thanks,

Kathy, mom to almost 21 months, almost 9 months in Starband
