Guest guest
It has been almost 2 years since I last visited this site. My almost 3 yo graduated from his band 9.08 for severe brachy. I just found out that I am expecting my second child and want to be very proactive this time. Back then, someone recommended a sleep positioner specifically for brachy. All I can remember is that it had a circular cut out where the back of the head would press down. Does anyone know the name of this sleep positioner or any other sleep positioner that they would highly recommend to help prevent brachy/plagio? Thank you,
Guest guest
, I believe you are asking about the noggin nest - available at Amazon. I got this for my second baby and it has been working so far, but be careful not to overuse. I had a feeling my baby's head started to take the shape of the hole (only at the lower part though) that is supposed to take the pressure off the back of the head. I now alternate with a simple folded piece of cloth to discourage that. Overall, my baby is 5 months now and I see no sign of brachy. Guest guest
Hi , Congratulations on your good news. I don't know any sleep positioners. The one that was recommended to us long ago is no longer available from what i know (nightform). What I do know is you should vary the head position and avoid things that keep him/her on his/her head such as keeping him in the car seat (when not in the car), swing etc. There is a cushion you can use sometimes called noggin nest (? I didn't use it). Also push tummy time from the beginning. Try a baby carrier or sling when you can (or course check out the current warnings about using a sling with young babies). My daughter had brachy and slept with her head facing the ceiling each night - not recommended :-) -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > It has been almost 2 years since I last visited this site. Guest guest
Hi! We used the mimos pillow at night for my son with brachy - now in a doc band. Upon reflection, I feel that the pillow actually just made him more comfortable sleeping on his back and when he got stronger and could roll around in his crib (when we had to remove the pillow) - he continued to prefer to sleep on his back. I'm not convinced the pillow did much (didn't get worse though). If I had to do it again, I would concentrate on more side to side repositioning for brachy. Good luck and congratulations!! > > > > It has been almost 2 years since I last visited this site. My almost 3 yo graduated from his band 9.08 for severe brachy.
