I think you are right. Did either of the doctors measure your son's head? He

seems to have some asymmetry (plagio). He also seems to have brachicephaly -

flat in back with extra width. The plagio looks the worst in pic5. Where do you

live? Could you get a consultation from Cranial Tech (doc band maker) or one of

the starband providers? Sometimes that information can be passed along to your

doctor to help convince them there is a problem. What kind of doctors did you

see?

I think you are being a great mom for not just accepting what the doctors are

telling you.

We live in Toronto. Yesterday we took our baby (5 1/2 months old) to our family

doctor to express our concern regarding our son's head. We printed some pictures

to show the flatness of his head and she said " His head is normal, I am not

worried about, I don't see anything wrong, there is nothing to worry " At that

point I wanted to cry because I thought she is not getting it, how can she not

see what we see?. She didn't took her time to reallly OBSERVE, I was so

determine not leave her office until we get refer to Sick Kids Hospital Toronto

where they have a clinic that treat children with placiocephaly. My husband and

I ininsisted how concerned we are and I said " Please, we know his head is not

normal he needs to wear a helmet " We could see she doesn't know about

plagiocephaly we educated her about it a bit as we read a lot before going to

see her.

She finally after insisting so much she said " Ok, if you want I will send you to

Sick kids hospital " We feel so happy. She was supposed to fax our info to the

hospital today. We will call to her office later today to see if the fax was

sent.

Now I am dreaming about my boy getting his helmet. I hope we will be call soon

and we will be able to get his helmet ASAP.

Please keep us in your prayers. We are first time parents and completely new in

that.

Good for you! I'm so glad you insisted on the referral. Maybe next time the

doctor will know better now that he's been educated on the topic. I'm sorry I

didn't realize when I replied before you are in Canada, so my advice wasn't very

good. I just looked at your pictures though, and I bet they will say your son

has a combination of brachycephaly and plagiocephaly. Make sure they also check

him for torticollis. I can't tell from the pictures if he has it, but 80% of

plagio babies do, so you should read up on it just in case. I think you'll feel

much better when you get treatment started. Let us know how your appointment at

the hospital goes. ~
