Guest guest
Hi , dress him very lightly. Also take the band off every hour or so and wipe it down with a dry cloth and dry his head too. Keep a fan on too if you can (but make sure his body isn't getting chilly). Don't let the sweat build up too much. We used a little hydrocortizone on the heat rash - but my daughter only had a few patches near her side burns. If you try it let it dry before putting the band back on. I can't think of anything else to try. Are you sure it is heat rash? Some kids have more of an allergy to the band. Doc band seems to have this problem less. If the rash is all over, and does get better when you dry the band off etc it may be an allergy. Also be sure you use mild shampoo, clean the band well with alcohol (nothing else) and let it dry before putting it on. Some people clean the band with shampoo etc, but most orthos don't recommend this, and since you're having troubles I would say you should use only alcohol. If it dries completely it doesn't leave any residue (which shampoos etc. can). -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > I posted a couple of weeks ago about my frustration with my son's > helmets.
