head not growing?

My son's head had consistently grown at least 1-2 cm every doctor visit and this

month it didn't grow. He doesn't seem concerned but since my son is banded, is

it possible that his head is growing " up " and not around because the band is

getting too tight? We still see a space with the band on but when it is off,

his skull appears higher at the top than it ever was. We go to the orthodist

tomorrow but he is also not very proactive. Just wondering your thoughts.

Thanks.

You should go by the percentile, not by how many cm his head grew. If the

percentile is fairly consistent, then it's fine. How old is your baby? Head

growth normally slows at a certain age. For example, a baby's head should grow

about 7-8 cm from birth to 6 months, but only 2-3 cm from 6-12 months. So, not

showing a significant growth in 1 month doesn't necessarily signal a problem,

especially if he's around 6 months or older. The long look of your baby's head

is probably from the band temporarily compressing soft tissue on the holding

points. I'd guess it's probably fine. ~
