Guest guest
These are the general guidelines that the band companies and insurance use: Plagio Severity: 0-3 mm is normal <6 mm is very mild 6-10 mm is mild 10-15 mm is moderate 15+ mm is severe Brachycephaly Severity: Cephalic Ratio = Cranial Breadth/Cranial Length ideal ratio - 78% normal - 73-83% moderate - 83.1% to 87.9% severe - 88% and higher Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 4, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 7 , 10 What measurements define mild, moderate, or severe plagiocephaly? Hi, Thank you to everyone who responded to my previous post about to band now or later. It was very helpful. I have another question for the group. We have our free evaluation at Cranial Tech on Tuesday and from my understanding her head will be measured. Can someone educate me on how these measurements are taken and what they mean? Also, are there set measurements that indicate mild, moderate or severe? I would love to have a baseline to compare to when I am at Cranial Tech. Since I have to drive so far, we will commit to banding that day and get her fitted if it seems that will be the best course of treatment for her. The more information I can have at the evaluation the better. Thanks so much for your help. This group has been so helpful to us! Thanks, ------------------------------------ For more plagio info
Guest guest
Besides using measurements as a guide, you can judge it visually. CT includes a help page for this on their website. I think that, although the insurance companies use measurements to determine qualifications for banding, what really matters is what you see visually. Here is the link: http://www.cranialtech.com/index.php?option=com_content & view=category & layout=blog & id=71 & Itemid=132 There is another place on their sit that has a PDF download, but I can't seem to find it now. Regardless, this should give you some idea. Yes, measurements do give a guideline, but I think that we need to keep the vision of what the head looks like in the back of our mind. What measurements define mild, moderate, or severe plagiocephaly? Guest guest
There is actually a pdf file that they used to have and I recently found by doing a google search. It shows the severity levels for all angles rather than just the sides. It is shown through drawings, but it seems pretty accurate to me. what you posted was all that I could find this time.
