Hi,

I would definitely not delay helmet therapy. If CT evaluated your son

with moderate/severe plagio, I would believe them. If the specialist

does not write a prescription, I would fight for it. Now is the

optimal time for helmet treatment. To optimize the outcome of the

helmet, I highly recommend CST from a well qualified therapist. Others

on this list can probably provide more details on how CST works. We

have used CST along with other natural therapies, and I strongly

believe that alternative treatments can help, but except in very mild

cases or for babies under 5 months, they should be used to supplement

helmet treatment, not to replace it. Alternative treatments may also

help those children who are too old for a helmet, but then it is an

extremely slow process and not guaranteed.

Best,

Kathy, mom to 23 months and 5.5 years, both now with very

mild plagio ( treated since 12 months)

Hi all:

I'm fairly new here... my son is almost 6 months old and we are

investigating treatment for his "moderate to severe" plagio (as dubbed

by Cranial Technologies evaluation last week.) We have a visit with a

specialist next week to give us a medical opinion and prescription if

they concur.

Prior to pretty much deciding to band our little guy, I'd said that I

would like to try any alternative therapies first, and I have actually

found a therapist with experience in CST for plagio (which is a miracle

since we live in the middle of nowhere.) Anyway, I'm curious about

this. Does it work? What is the treatment like? How can a once a week

massage-type therapy work as well as 23 hours a day? I have a few

friends who are physical therapists and they have warned me off of

this. Plus, I'm afraid to try it and delay beginning the band therapy

(which it sounds like is a sure thing...)

Thanks for any insights!
