It's still all new to me,and I,myself am learning to accept it,and do not want to be treated any different, and I feel like every person I choose to tell will be a judgement call. God bless! Guest guest
You are very lucky there Mike with your employment. After going thru treatment and working the whole time, my boss decided that she should remind me that I was lucky to have a job with my condition. I was thinking about leaving anyways during treatment but her comments were the last straw that broke the camels back. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, that I wanted to live and do something with my life and where I was it was never going to happen. Where I am now is a thousands times better, I enjoy going to work everyday and it keeps getting better. Lynne [ ] Re: New Here! Thanks! Lynne. The good thing about it with me in regard to my place of employment. I do not have health insurance there.Probably, never will. The wages aren't anything to brag about, and the insurance is hardly worth the premium. So,if it wasn't for the blessings of the possible culprit (Army).I would not have never known at this time I am infected. It was through a routine check up at the VA I was diagnosed with Hep-C.When,I learned about the different situations that suggest a test.I found I needed to get tested. So,that helps alot that I am under VA treatment. Also, pertaining to my job. A good thing there. We all carry rubber gloves should a bleeding incident occur.Every one was trained for a bleeding situation.Thank you! Lynne, for the output. By the way...Any one here from NC? Guest guest
I do believe you are right about that Lynne. My job, being MALL SECURITY does require a certain amount of first aid training, and we had to be because of infectious diseases is a good thing,I guess. I work third shift and do not really see to much action from that stand point. But,we do have a bar at the mall that closes late, and our regular overnight employees, etc. Hopefully, the VA will take care of my condition,or the most part of it. However,I am deeply praying about telling my church folks. We are a very small group, and I have always felt like a family member there. I travel over an hour to get there. So,if they suddenly change their views of me. I guess I would just find one closer to home. But,I really think they are the type of people who will hold me up in prayer.Anyways, life does go on,and we as Hep-C patients are human, and are the same people we was and created by God.I can live with that Lynne. Guest guest
...thanks for asking that question about fatigue and Kathy thanks for answering it. I have been Soooooooo tired and reasoned that it was from pretending that I was not in so much pain. I put alot of effort into that so that my special needs daughter won't be worried and also so that I don't bring people down. It helps me somehow to know that it's part of it. Now I just need to figure out what to do about it. This ultracet has helped but I don't want to depend on it. And the pain meds make me tired too...just a different kind of tired. Is there a pain med for bad days that does not make you so tired? Does anyone know of one....or two? ....keep your head up and lets be thankful that we found a place to get information. There is such an open, caring atmosphere on this site. I don't feel so alone with it now. -Betz cdmarie57 <cstoll@...> wrote: Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with PA this winter, although I suspected it a year ago. I have lost my usual energy the past 6 months. I try not to beat myself up over not getting up to go to the gym on mornings when I just can't get going. Guest guest
I was diagnosed ith PsAnDecember although, like you, I've had it for a while. I unfortunately waited until I could barely move. I'm on a combo of Humira and Methotrexate. Don't be scared of the side effects. I get a bloodtest every few months for check-up,but nothing has happened adversly.I do feel better though. Obviously everyone acts differenlt towards meds. , but I wouldn'y worry too much about the side effects. > > Hello everyone, > > I was diagnosed with PA this winter, although I suspected it a year > ago. If your child has problems with papain or bromelain [papaya or pineapple], use the version without those ingredients. Usually a child with a loose bm will have a firmer bm. Dana

Guest guest
I have a 5 year old in kindergarten and is in a special education class. The academics are the same but the class has 8 kids, a teacher and aide. My daughter is probably the only one with autism but the other kids are mostly likely ADHD or developmental delay. She was in an inclusion class for preschool and I was upset that there was no combined class for kindergarten. So I enrolled her in a private kindergarten in the afternoon. I wanted to make sure she spent time with NT kids also. She is excelling in both classes. So I want to mainstream her to 1st grade but know the sp. ed. teacher still thinks she needs his class. So I have decided to do what I feel is right and have enrolled her in the private school for 1st grade. She was given a one hour test to see if she was ready for the 1st grade cirriculum in a regular class and passed in the top. She still has issues but the small classroom size allows for this. Guest guest
Hi Dana, my son just turned 6 and is in an inclusive k-garten class. He's only part-time but it's really working out well (so far!). What I'd recommend is getting an IEP in place so he has the supports he needs (e.g. para, structure etc...) Guest guest
If you ever send her to a public school think about putting her on a 504. It may be easier for them to accept and she will be in the mainstreamed classroom. For years, I've had digestive problems, bloating, sugar cravings, yeast infections and a white tongue. I have little trust in doctors, so I never went to see one until a few weeks back becuase I decided that the first step would be confirming the candida, leaky gut and food allergies. The ND I chose gave me a delayed reaction test (which said I'm highly allergic to all dairy and eggs) and also a comprehensive stool analysis from Genova labs. The lab results said I have no growth of specific strains of beneficial bacteria, so she prescribed probiotics. The test said I do not have candida. This came as a huge shock to me after battling this for years and having so many of the symptoms, so I did some additional research online and discovered after spending nearly $255 on the stool test that these test don't always accurately diagnos candida. I'm not sure what to do now. On monday, I'm getting the other allergy test where it shows immediatly reactions and am wondering if I should also get a blood test for candida. The diet is very strict and my problem is with all my food allergies and the dietary restrictions for candida and leaky gut, I'll have a difficult time maintaining the protocal, so I need to know if I can still eat fruit and more than a small number of grains. In addition to the probiotics, I'm also taking 2 grams of L-glutamine a day, and 2 tablespoons of powdered slimpery elm bark (which my ND says will help restore my leaky gut), and trying to do a regular relaxation/meditation to help balance my stress levels. From the internet, I ordered a bottled of pure powdered Nystatin and am contemplating taking that 4 times per day, but am not sure if it'll hurt the beneficial bacteria. I've read that Nystatin is completly harmless, but again I'm stuck with wondering about the amount of grains I can eat and I do eat rice or fruit, with they render the Nystatin useless. My weight is low so the last time I did the candida diet (for 6 weeks) I lost a substantial amount of weight and my husband mentioned anorexia! Anyhow, thanks for reading (sorry this is so long, but it's nice to write this all out!). I look forward to getting to know you all and learn from you. --------------------------------- Like movies? Guest guest
, if you were " severely allergic " to dairy and eggs, you'd have gone into shock from it and raised an alarm when you were a small child. Thus, your ND must be wrong in interpreting an allergy. Your ND is also wrong in suggesting slippery elm to help restore bowel lining; what it is is a well-known soother. Your ND is wrong in her thinking that a probiotic will culture a beneficial ecology in the gut without feeding it. Inulin is the correct feed for probiotic organisms, it is precisely what is missing in the modern diet but used to be in the staple foods, and the outcome of missing this food is the bowel dysbiosis that leads to a bowel candida infestation. As you become familiar with the science behind our protocol used by this group, you will be in a position to show it to your ND and educate her Three strikes, I say; more useful advice is to forget your ND, and spend your money on a decent diet. You can also forget testing for food sensitivities because they will go away as you get better. Don't eat any rice and watch the fruit too; both are high in carbohydrates that feed bowel dysbiosis and candida. What you SHOULD eat is lots of undenatured whey to prevent weight loss (like body builders and people on this list do), use selenium, and add inulin, which is the food for the probiotics, or high-inulin foods. The table of high-inulin foods and the science of using it (or not) to restore bowel ecology is here: http://tinyurl.com/2m29z Duncan Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 14:36:21 -0700 (PDT) > From: S <michelle_s18@...> > Subject: New here! > candidiasis Moderator <candidiasis-owner > > > Hi everyone, > > I just joined this list because I'm pretty sure I have candida. > > In addition to the probiotics, I'm also taking 2 grams of L- glutamine a day, and 2 tablespoons of powdered slimpery elm bark (which my ND says will help restore my leaky gut), and trying to do a regular relaxation/meditation to help balance my stress levels. > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Like movies? Guest guest
If you keep eating foods that you are sensitive to though, won't dramatically slow down healing? Sensitivities usually go away within a couple of months if you refrain from that food for a while, but if you keep eating something that causes inflammation or immune reaction, doesn't that prolong healing? I ask because I am on the brink of dropping $500 for a MRT test because I am out of ideas. greg > Three strikes, I say; more useful advice is to forget your ND, and > spend your money on a decent diet. Guest guest
, you are wasting your money by releasing lactobacilli into a vibrant bifidobacteria culture. Your ND apparently doesn't know that bifidobacteria will outcompete bowel ecology INCLUDING the numbers of lactobacillus. Further, elderly subjects have above average values of lactobacilli AND pathogens, as seen by the compiled chart on my inulin page here: http://tinyurl.com/2m29z. What does that tell you about the efficacy of lactobacillus? Duncan > > Duncan, > > Thanks for your reply. > > I'll check out Inulin. One thing though is that the good bacteria I'm low on is the Lactobacillus Strains, not the Bifodobacterium (which came back as 4+). The Lactobacillius series came back as " no growth. " My ND put me on Pharmax probiotics which have the Lacto strains, plus two others, along with two others, to help build those numbers up. > > Here's a link to that product: > > http://www.rockwellnutrition.com/product.asp?itemid=59 & catid=53 > > Any thoughts on it? I'd like to add in a couple more brands of probiotics to be sure that between the three, something is working! > > Also, what do you think about Nystatin in treating candida? Would that be a priority, along with diet, before addressing the beneficial bacteria or should I do both at different times of day? > > Thanks. > > > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> > candidiasis > Sent: Sunday, March 30, 2008 5:34:06 PM > S > and add inulin, > which is the food for the probiotics, or high-inulin foods. ubject: Re: Fwd: New here! > > Recent Activity > 24New Members > Visit Your Group > Health > Heartburn or Worse > What symptoms > are most serious? > Meditation and > Lovingkindness > A Group > to share and learn. > > Wellness Spot > A resource for Curves > and weight loss.. > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ ______________ > Like movies?
