Yes, conditioner will affect the foam in the DocBand. I can't think of a reason why. But they told us never ever ever put anything (besides a baby head) in contact with it except for the alcohol.

Our son had a bald patch then it grew to a frizzy patch back there. He's 15 months old now though (had helmet on between 5 and 9.5 months) and all his luxurious curls have grown back in like the rest of his hair. We didn't worry about it because babies' hair falls out, grows back in, changes texture and color, etc.. in the first few years of life.
