Guest guest
If you decide to go to CT for the evaluation, you might ask when you talk to them (on the phone when you make the appointment) if there are any peds they can recommend in your area. Since you'd have to drive three hours, they might not know anyone in your area, but you never know. The ped that gave us the prescription we needed was one CT was familiar with because she referred many families to them. She was pro-band and had written the script for our friends' daughter...and they didn't even have to beg for it. :-) Imagine. When we knew we needed a band AND a prescription, we went straight to these friends to find out who their ped was that wrote the script and immediately made the appointment. This saved us a lot of wasted time going to more doctors only to get more no's. We'd already gotten bad advice from the previous pediatrician and a craniofacial specialist so didn't want to lose any more time going to doctors who may or may not write the script. We had the consult with CT on a Friday, got the script from the new ped the following Monday, went back to CT for the DSI the following week and he was in the band 10 days later. Thankfully, it all moved very quickly once we finally got on the right road. Our son was 5 1/2 months when he got into his DOC Band. Our insurance didn't cover any of it, so timing of appointments wasn't an issue. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
