Guest guest
Hi ,Our family had Carefirst BCBS(of MD) FEP and the helmet for our daughter was covered in the spring of 2010. The insurance company required documentation from the ped showing the referral to a specialist (neurosurgeon) who recommended helmet therapy. The neurosurgeon wrote a letter that included measurements and classified our daughter's condition as severe(14.5mm total asymmetry, 6mm(ear) and 2mm(facial.) He stated the the band would not be covered w/o this letter. Our daughter's plagio(classic) was caused by torticollis for which she received PT. The initial submission was denied because the insurance company wanted records from the neurosurgeon. That office faxed them to the helmet provider who resubmitted the claim and it was paid. Our band was $2900 and BCBS paid 2/3 of that amount(we used a preferred provider.)I hope this helps. Feel free to email me directly if I can help further.Good luck!-AmyFrom: hjennier <alexsplumbing@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, March 3, 2011 9:18:38 PMSubject: Calling all land Parents or Carefirst BCBS Insurance holders...I need help!
