Guest guest
HelloPlease are probably not staring because they think anything bad, they are probably curious about why he is wearing the Helmet. That is what I have found. Jack is just turned 12 months and been in his helmet 4 weeks and to be honest its hasn't been as bad as I thought. A few mums at nursery asked what it was for. And I went out for lunch yesterday with a friend and her 6 yrs old asked why he had it on, but out of interest rather than being mean. And my other friends 5 year old want to try it on as he thought it as a " power ranger " helmet, and I had to explain it was specially made for Jack and won't fit anyone else. Your baby doesn't realise anyone is staring so certainly doesn't feel any humiliation and its much better than him being teased at school for a strange shaped head. I was really worried about getting them helmet as I thought friends and family would think that we were being over the top as his head shape wasn't severe, and I was worried to about people staring and the other kids at nursery etc. But so far its only be a postive experience. Yes some odd look from people in the supermarket etc, but thats only because people are curious, not because they are spiteful. x x On 6 November 2010 22:26, Lana Howell <lanahowell@...> wrote: My son is 4 weeks in his DOC band with another 4 weeks to go. It is AMAZING how quickly we are seeing changes in his head shape. We are so pleased and can not wait to see how he looks when we are all done. Try to not let the looks from others bother you. I use it as a way to break the ice and just say, " don't you like his helmet? It is helping to make his head round again. Cool huh? " Most kids and adults are then very nice. Best of luck to you!
